Drop Renaming

When you use the Split View to move files (see Split View), Enterprise Organizer Pro gives you a powerful option for renaming files as you move them: Drop Renaming.

What Is Drop Renaming?

The fastest way to move files from the top view to the bottom is with drag-and-drop. But often when you move files, you want to rename them at the same time. With drop renaming, you can specify a filename beforehand, and when you perform the drag/drop, Enterprise Organizer Pro will automatically rename the file(s) accordingly. But the real power of drop renaming comes when you use Naming Options – pre-defined naming rules. By selecting a naming option for the drop name, you can rename files in bulk as you drag/drop them from the top view to the bottom.

Use Drop Renaming

Using drop renaming is simple:

1. Turn on the Split view
2. On the toolbar for the lower view, either type a filename in the Drop Name field or select a naming option from the list
3. Drag/drop files from the top view to the bottom
4. The files will be renamed as they’re dropped

Multiple Files

You can drag/drop multiple files in one bunch and the drop naming feature will still work. It will rename all of the files with whatever filename or naming option is selected. If filenames will conflict, Enterprise Organizer Pro will add a number to the end of each file to ensure unique names.

Disable Renaming

Renaming will continue to happen as long as there is a filename in the Drop Name field. To disable renames, just clear the filename.
