Adding a scan device

Once a trigger has been created, it must be published to a scan device before it is available to scan documents. Publishing a trigger makes it available for use by all users. Triggers will be published as scan templates. Scan templates are said to be distributed templates because they are distributed to particular scan devices specified. The triggers can only be used at those scan devices.

Depending on the purchased license and/or installed features, the Servicetype, HTTPS and Port options may not be available for this Advanced File Pack installation and are therefore not explained in instructions below. For a detailed explanation of the Servicetype, HTTPS and Port options please refer to the Device page.

    1. In the tree view right click on Scan devices and select Add.

    2. The next screen appears:
    3. Choose the Servicetype depending on the used MFP and the configuration of the triggers.
    4. There are two different options for publishing triggers on the scan device, one by using the Network Scanning functionality and two by using the Custom Services of the scan device. Note that not all scan devices support Custom Services, in this case the Network Scanning service should be used. For more information regarding the scanning functionality supported for each scan device please consult the Installation Guide. Different scan device grids will show based on what Service type is selected for the scan device.
    5. Click Edit. Select the (0.0.0.0) IP-address / Host name column in the grid. A gray browse button appears. Fill out the IP address of the scan device, or click the browse button to search the network for connected scan devices. A list of available scan devices appears. Note: depending on the network configuration and the amount of attached devices, it could take a few seconds to fill this list.

    6. Select the scan device and click OK.
    • Configure It is available just in case of network scanning. When checked the scan device will be configured by the program, the program will set the file repository and template pool and manage the scan templates of the scan device automatically. When this box is unchecked the program will not configure the scan device, the scan templates need to be created manually (for more information for manual configuration of the scan devices please refer to the Installation Guide).
    • Username It is available just in case of InterActive Client for Custom Services. Specify the Username of the account to make changes to the scan device configuration.
    • Password It is available just in case of InterActive Client for Custom Services. Specify the Password of the account to make changes to the scan device configuration.
    • Printer name It is available just in case of InterActive Client for Custom Services. Specify the printer to use when the print option in a browse question is used.
      1. It is also possible to define a group of scan devices. Fill out the Groupname field.
      2. It is possible to enable authentication on the scan device, read Enable authentication for more information.
      3. Select the Templates tab.

      4. Click the Edit icon, the blue pencil, and select the trigger(s) needed for the scan device. Click Close. The triggers will be published to all devices defined in the scan device group.

      5. Optionally, hot buttons can be defined for the triggers. Select the Hot buttons tab.

      6. Select a trigger and image by using the pull down menus. The hot button will show on the display of your MFD. The maximum amount of hot buttons is unlimited, but a maximum of 4 or 10 hot buttons will display per page, depending on the type of MFD. Assign a hot button to the Template list to facilitate access to all published templates. If the Template List is not associated with a Hot Button it will not be accessible from the MFD, and Templates without a hot button will not be accessible. The templates can be sorted by dragging them to a different position with the mouse or by selecting one and using the Up and Down buttons. Click OK to save the scan device settings. For information on how to create custom hot buttons, please refer to the help section entitled Creating custom hot buttons.
