Device

Devices managed by the program can include various scan devices.A scan device must be added to the program before it can be managed. Adding scan devices can be done in two ways, either by defining the IP address of the scan device manually, or by browsing the network for connected scan devices. When the program is managing the scan device the necessary triggers will be published to the scan device automatically. In addition it is possible to enable authentication on the scan device. This way, a user first has to log on before a scan can be made.

Device

  • Groupname: optionally a group name can be specified, when no Groupname is specified an individual scan device will be created in ScanFlowStore.
  • Device type: Choose to add a Scan device. The availability of the second option is determined by your license. Depending on your choice between these two, different options are available.
  • Servicetype* (available only for Scan devices): There are two different options for publishing templates on the scan device, one by using the Network Scanning functionality and another by using the Custom Services of the scan device.
Note that not all scan devices support Custom Services, in this case the Network Scanning service should be used. For more information regarding the scanning functionality supported for each Xerox scan device consult the Installation Guide.
    • Network Scanning: when Network Scanning is chosen the templates will be created on the scan device utilizing the Template Pool of the scan device, the templates will show up in the Network Scanning Service menu.
    • Custom Services: the newer Xerox scan devices do support Custom Services, on these scan devices ScanFlowStore can create an InterActive Client. This client is called InterActive because bi-directional communication is possible between the scan device and ScanFlowStore. This bi-directional communication makes it possible to utilize lookup questions instead of text input questions.
  • Port* (available only for Interactive Client): specify what TCP port is used for HTTP by the Default Web Site of IIS, by default Port 80 is used.
  • Scan devices: click here for a detailed explanation of the scan devices grid.
  • Authentication: it is possible to enable Authentication, a user first has to log on before a scanning can be initiated.
    • None: no authentication, everybody can access the template(s).
    • LDAP* (available only for InterActive Client): the user list of the LDAP will be used. When querying the LDAP servers using this authentication type, the system proceeds according to the list of LDAP servers on the Advanced tab, and accepts the first match.
    • Quatro Username* (available only for InterActive Client): the username and password of the ScanFlowStore users database will be used. Read Users for more information.
    • Quatro PID* (available only for InterActive Client): the Personal Identifier, or personal code, of the ScanFlowStore users database will be used. Read Users for more information. Available only for Scan devices
    • Quatro Username/PID* (available only for InterActive Client): the user can choose between the two above described authentication methods, a default method must be chosen.
    • Device Authentication* (available only for InterActive Client): the program retrieves the authenticated user information from the scan device. This user information will be used to log on to the InterActive Client. Click here for more information about Device Authentication. Available only for Scan devices
    • External Authentication (available only for Network Scanning): the program retrieves the authenticated user information from the external software. See the External Applications tab for more information.
  • Validate password***: this option will validate if the (correct) password is stored in the session object of the scan device, if not it will challenge the user for the password.
  • Verification***: select the source that will be used to authenticate with based on the user credentials supplied through the devices authentication
    • LDAP: the user will be validated against the LDAP user list. When querying the LDAP servers using this verification type, the system proceeds according to the list of LDAP servers on the Advanced tab, and accepts the first match.
    • LDAP & Quatro Username: the user will be validated against the LDAP and ScanFlowStore user list.
    • Quatro Username: the user will be validated against the ScanFlowStore user list.
  • Use domain name prefix**: If this option is selected, the user name will be populated in domain nameuser name format for the processing phase (QUSERNAME metadata).
  • Invalid username/password message**: the message that will be displayed on the screen of the scan device when authentication fails. The message is customizable.
  • Check if user is locked**: if a user tries to log on with an account that is locked the user will be notified via the touch screen of the scan device to contact a system administrator to unlock the account. The message is customizable.

* Depending on the purchased license and/or in stalled features, the Servicetype option, and all other options marked with asterisk characters may not be available for this ScanFlowStore installation.

** Only available if LDAP or Device Authentication is selected.

*** Only available if Device Authentication is selected.
