Save/Open Integration

Enterprise Organizer Pro can replace the Save and Open dialogs of many Windows programs with its own custom Save/Open dialogs. The dialogs have the same look and feel as the regular Enterprise Organizer Pro interface and make it possible for you to use your file cabinets any time you save or open a file.

Enable or Disable the Dialogs

Enterprise Organizer Pro’s custom Save/Open dialogs give you the flexibility to switch back to regular Windows Save/Open dialogs anytime you need to. Just use the Esc key on your keyboard or the Switch to Windows button to switch back to a regular dialog on a one-time basis.

The dialogs are automatically turned on for most common programs. You can control this on a program-by-program basis, activating them for some programs and disabling them for others. You can even shut them off altogether.

To enable the dialogs for other programs, see Add an Application. To disable the dialogs, see Save/Open Settings.

Switching to the Standard Dialogs

You have the option of switching back to your program’s native Save or Open dialog any time you need to. This can be useful if you need to save a file somewhere other than in one of your file cabinets.

To switch to your program’s native dialog, simply click the Switch to Windows button or press the Esc key on your keyboard.

You can permanently disable the Enterprise Organizer Pro Save/Open dialog on a program-by-program basis or altogether. Use the Settings button to change these settings. See Save/Open Integration for more information.

Saving and Opening Files

Use the File name field to enter the name of the file you are saving or opening. If opening a file, you can also click on the file in the file list and then click Open. If saving a file, you can select a file in the list and then click Save to overwrite it.

Use the Files of type list to filter the files that are displayed in the file list. For example, if you select *.doc, Word documents will be displayed. When saving a file, the Files of type list also determines the format that will be used for saving the file. For example, if you select *.rtf, the file will be saved in Rich Text Format.

In the Save dialog there is a Don’t Filter Files option. Selecting this option will display all of the files in the current folder, not just the files of the selected file type. This can be very useful for maintaining a consistent naming convention across different programs.

Most Recent Paths

Enterprise Organizer Pro remembers the locations where you’ve saved/opened files recently. These locations are listed under the Most Recent button. You can use this button to quickly jump back to places you’ve been recently.

Naming Options - Getting Suggested File Names

In the Save dialog, Enterprise Organizer Pro can give you a list of suggested file names. This is known as Naming Options, a powerful feature which lets you pre-define commonly used file names. You can optionally select a file name from this list each time you save a file. If you have set up a list of common file names, you can access the list with the drop-arrow next to the File Name field.
