Open Text eDOCS - Browse

This module can be used for browse purposes, which makes possible to browse through an Open Text eDOCS folder structure and select a folder on the device client screen before scanning and the selected value is stored as a metadata entry.

If a new browse question is created, Open Text eDOCS must be selected for the Module setting. The general browse question settings are described in another section, so just the Open Text eDOCS related topics are discussed here. The Open Text eDOCS browse question dialog can be seen below:

  • Server: The name of the Open Text eDOCS server. (The name of the server can be checked in DM Connection Wizard.)
  • Authentication method: The authentication method for login to Open Text eDOCS server. The following methods can be selected:
  • Library authentication: A user account of the eDOCS database is used for connecting to eDOCS. This is the default setting.
  • Windows authentication: Select this option if the Open Text eDOCS system can be accessed with the Windows user, who is running the ScanFlowStore services (Administration Tool and Listener).
  • Netware Bindery authentication: A Novell NetWare (version 2 or 3) user account is used for connecting to eDOCS.
  • Netware NDS authentication: A Novell Directory Services or Novell e-Directory user account is used for connecting to eDOCS.
  • Library: Select an eDOCS library to connect. The available libraries are automatically listed depending on the selected eDOCS server.
  • Log on as section: Specify the user credentials to connect to the selected eDOCS server and library.
  • Use meta data: Allow or disallow the usage of metadata values for the user credentials settings. If it is allowed, a metadata icon appears next to each textbox and clicking on it opens the metadata browser dialog . By default this option is disallowed.
  • Username: Username of the user credential. If a Novell NetWare user credential is used, the fully qualified distinguished name should be set.
  • Password: Password of the user credential.
  • Confirm password: Confirmation of the Password field (it should have the same value). This setting is only available, if using metadata is disallowed.
  • Domain: Domain where the specified user account is located. It is only necessary if Windows authentication is used.
  • Use personal workspace: If this option is selected, the specified user’s workspaces can be browsed also, not just the public folders and files. By default this option is not selected.
  • Show: Select items which should appear on the device client during browsing. The available items can be:
  • Files: Just the documents stored in eDOCS are listed without folder structure.
  • Folders: The folder structure of eDOCS without files can be browsed. This is the default setting.
  • Folders & Files: The folder structure of eDOCS and the documents in the folders can be browsed.
  • Print: If this option is selected, a Print button appears on the device client when this browse question is opened. If an eDOCS document is selected and the Print button is pressed, the selected eDOCS document is sent to the printer, which was specified at the Printer name settings of the scan device. This option is only available, if Files or Folders & Files is selected for the Show option. By default this option is not selected.
