Enterprise Organizer Pro’s Advanced Search Engine

Access the Indexing Settings from the Settings button > Indexing option.

Use the settings below to control the location and update frequency of your Enterprise Organizer Pro search indexes. See Indexes and Indexing for more information about indexes and searching.

Enable Auto Indexer

If you want new files to be added to the search index on an ongoing basis, you must periodically update the index. This is known as an Incremental Index or Auto-Indexing.

The Enable Auto Indexer option will enable auto-indexing for all cabinets selected for auto-indexing. The indexer will run at the interval specified.

NOTE: If you disable auto-indexing, new files will not be added to the indexes. This means that you will not be able to search the new files.

Run Auto Indexer Every ...

You can specify how often the auto-indexer should search for new files to add to the indexes. It is recommended that you run the auto-indexer when the computer will be dormant, like when you will be at lunch.

The auto-indexer can either run at a specific hourly interval, or it can run once a day at a given time.

Hourly Interval
To run the indexer at a specific hourly interval, select the Run indexer every n hours option. Then set the hourly interval below in the Run every __ hours field.
Daily
To run the indexer once a day at a specific time, select the Run indexer once a day option. Then set the start time below in the Run after __ each day field. The indexer will run at the first opportunity after the computer becomes idle.

NOTE: For the indexer to run, the computer must be running and you must be logged on.

Cabinets to be Auto-Indexed

The Cabinets to be Auto-Indexed list shows all of the available cabinets. Place a check mark next to each cabinet that you would like to have auto-indexed.

For convenience, you can also use the Check All and Uncheck All options to select or deselect all of the cabinets in the list.

Index Paths

The index paths control where Enterprise Organizer Pro will put your search indexes. Because indexes can be quite large, be sure you have enough drive space available. As a rule of thumb, an index will require at least 1/4 of the space of the original files. For example, if you are indexing 400 MB of files, the index will require at least 100 MB of drive space.

Root Path for Local Search Indexes
Enterprise Organizer Pro will create the indexes for all local cabinets in the Root Path for Local Search Indexes. It is usually best to keep this set to a path on your local machine.
Root Path for Network Search Indexes
Indexes for network cabinets can be created locally (each computer maintains its own index of the cabinet), or they can be shared on the network (all computers on the network share a common index). See Sharing Search Indexes for instructions on setting up a shared index.

File Types to Exclude

By default the indexer will index every file in a cabinet. If there are certain file types you don’t want to have indexed, you can tell the indexer to skip them. Enter the extensions for files you want skipped in the File Types to Exclude from Indexing field. DO NOT include periods, and separate each extension with a comma and a space. For example, if you want to exclude common image, music, and video files, enter the following:

jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, mp3, wma, wmv, mpg, mpeg, avi
